Me and My Life Mission

As you might have read from the homepage, I’m Luke Abernathy, an actuated person with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, blue and white-collar skills, and others’ wisdom and life stories and experiences. I’m currently a student at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and am one of approximately 1,250 undergraduate students within its Honors College. I’m pursuing a bachelor of science in civil engineering, with an emphasis in structural engineering. Upon completing my bachelor’s degree, I plan to attend graduate school and earn a master’s degree in civil/structural engineering. I plan to apply my studies in bridge engineering and design within North America, and maybe even pursue a doctorate in structural engineering in the future, assisting in research and development of ASCE/SEI Codes & Standards.

My ultimate goal and mission in life is to leave an imprint of my work and contributions on Earth and to others that lasts much longer than the duration of my own being. I eventually found that engineering is the best way for me personally to achieve this goal by not only saving commuters and travellers countless hours of time crossing treacherous paths via bridges, but also contributing to safer and reliable design methods.
